Faith in people

What’s a moment when a stranger completely restored your faith in people?

As a person with multiple disabilities, sometimes people can be a real pain in the ass!

Yesterday, for example, I was driving my power chair across a busy street in Vancouver, I was following one person, a young adult, who was paying attention to where he was heading, in other words, he wasn’t staring at his device. When he got to the curb, using the ramp, he abruptly turned around, unaware that I was following him! I had to slam on the brakes to avoid catastrophe! I yelled “What the fuck…!”

However, that’s the opposite of today’s prompt, how about this…

In May of this year, I drove that power chair into a tiny yellow pole that had to purpose at all!

The pointless pole was a few yards away from a crowded bus stop. Yet not one person noticed my pain, helped me pick up my joystick, or consoled me in anyway.

Who did help, who stopped to make sure I was alright, a guy in his work van who was waiting for the light so he could turn the corner. He undoubedly witnessed the whole thing, and was concerned. I thank him!

Thank you for reading!
