Hi there, how are you doing today?
It was a year ago when I last heard from my dad.
As the story goes…
It was two hours before Game One of Vancouver Canucks vs St. Louis Blues hockey game in the first round of the 2020 NHL playoffs; which were played in a bubble, sans fans; how monotonous!
What should I do while waiting for the puck to drop? Oh I know! I can spend quality time with my wife chatting while waiting for the police to show up!
Wait, did I say the police were coming? How could that happen? Hmm?
Well, it seems that I accidentally pocket dialed 911!
I guess I hung up somehow… suddenly 911 was calling back… I hung up, being Deaf-Blind, I thought that was the right way to handle the situation.
Yet, they called again. This time I handed my phone to my wife… she chatted a few minutes and said the police will come here to check up on me…
When the nice police officer showed up, we had a lovely chat, had a few laughs, I proved them that I was alright!
I then went to watch the game, I think Vancouver lost the opener.
I texted that story, abet shorter, to my dad; he replied quickly with a short reply that spoke volumes: “That’s you.”
That terse reply was the last time I got a reply from him; as the cancer that wrecked havoc on his body over the past 7 years spiralled rapidly out of control, within a week he was gone.
Love you Dad!
Oh, I did text him daily, before and after, he had no energy to reply. Damn you and the horse you rode in on Cancer!
Thank you for listening, sharing, donating, liking, and reading!
