Writings about Ataxia, being DeafBlind, family life. The best life can offer!

Noise

You know it’s time to get your brakes fixed when the Deaf guy, that would be me, cringes, covers his ears, looks around for the source of the squeal…

True story!

Happens many a-time!

Another fascinating true tale: my mother told me once upon an adolescent afternoon as AC/DC’s High Voltage assaulted her eardrums…
”Craig!” she shouted, then hit the stop on my cassette player “Turn this music down!”
”Oi oi” mid-riff on my air guitar, “it’s not that loud!”

“What you hear,” my mum pointed out, in the now silent room, “will always be louder for everyone else!”

I wonder, if I heard that car’s brakes, then I wonder how loud the squeal was!
