Craig’s WD #37

Today’s Word of the Day is…

Coterie

Now this word is a perfect fit for DeafBlind individuals.

The definition of coterie is a group of people with the same interests; mainly the method of communication.

While DeafBlind are first Deaf, using ASL. Whereas most Deaf could have a silent chat across a large room, most DeafBlind would be excluded because they can’t see or follow the dialogue.

Most DeafBlind are aware of limitations of DeafBlind, respecting those barriers.

Think of coterie as a small group within the larger group:

  • DeafBlind within Deaf population
  • Ataxic DeafBlind persons within the ataxia community
  • Tech savvy people among the Tech idiots
  • Aspiring authors who never published among the aspiring authors who have published!

— can you think of more coteries? Let me know!

Thanks for reading!
