Writings about Ataxia, being DeafBlind, family life. The best life can offer!

DeafBlind moment roundup

Hi there…

So, hopefully you’ve read blogs #3801 and #3802; prepare yourself for a comparison!

Let’s look at the mood and feelings:

  • Scott & I had a great reconnection,
  • We passed the onerous “Who are you” topic with ease, we chatted about life, family and school.
  • Both of us left the meetup feeling good, something to write home about…
  • A positive encounter!
  • Because… I had an intervenor who facilitated communication.
  • Wendy & I had a lousy connection,
  • We never got past the “Who are you” stage,
  • We became frustrated at that, not being able to exchange pleasantries about life,
  • We left the meetup feeling dejected, a forgettable occurance in the fabric of life,
  • A negative encounter,
  • Because… I did not have an dintervenor.

So, Can you see why an Intervenor is so very important for DeafBlind community!

And, yet, the Government of BC is still unable, unwilling, to commit funds to this service that empowers DeafBlind persons.

Like come on! It is the same as giving an amputee who spent years painfully walking around with crutches a new wheelchair, and then taking it away, forcing the return of the painful crutches!

Give me a break!

Thank you for listening!
