Craig’s WD #25

Today’s word of the day is…

Corpse

Oh my! This is not a dead body, nor is it a line of trees…

We’ve all seen people first out laughing at something very, unexpectedly, funny; the key word is unexpected.

Let’s say, you are minding your own business while out for a walk, and there, in the near distance, someone is walking down a hill, trips (over something small that you cannot see), does a lively tap dance while lurching from side to side, arms cartwheeling, then finally stops, only because that person fell.

Your first impression is to corpse, to laugh.

Because that was pretty funny.

Yet, then you realize that person has ataxia, and that tap-dance is not meant to be funny, nor is it fun. But that is the ataxic shuffle that plagues us ataxians everywhere.

And, not just ataxians, but also Parkinson’s or any other muscle deterioration disease.

Having caught up, you might race over to the fallen person: “Do you need help getting up?”

You could probably think of many other incidences where you would burst out laughing. We can thank The Theatre for this slang!

Thank you for listening!
