Writings about Ataxia, being DeafBlind, family life. The best life can offer!

The Gym

Previously, I blogged about routines, by going to the gym.

I’d like to enlighten you, it will only take a minute, what I do in the gym.

I am DeafBlind, with ataxia; I prefer to use weight equipment instead of free weights.

The former usually has resistant goals that flow in a direct and smooth manner.

If a particular machine has too many moving parts, I tend to skip it.

Also, how much weight do I lift? I know not! I start low, then add on, usually four sets of 10 to 12 reps per machine.

At the university’s gym, I use about 14 different machines. That is a good workout!

Whereas, free weights or barbells are harder to control with my ataxia.

I would fall even before I could snatch, and getting it over my head… like I said, I’d go toppling…

For similar reasons, I don’t even think about using the Running Machine or the standard Cycle Machine. I don’t want to fall off these things!

One time, I tried a Stair Machine, you know, the one where you walk up a continuous flight of stairs, that one, well, I found it boring and nonproductive. I stared and stared at this device and it didn’t do a damn thing!

Haha!

Tomorrow I am heading back to the university gym, I need to get back up there!

Thanks for your minute!

Have a good one!
