Autocorrect

Earlier today, you might have caught the Audism blog… well this is poking some fun into autocorrections of Deaf…

“Were you born death and blind?” I was asked by a middle school student in the late 90s.

I had a chuckle, then corrected the question she wrote on the whiteboard.

I’ve seen adverts for famous lecturers in Deaf studies as “…the renown Dead author…”. Gratefully, no one was offended,

====

My device has sometimes corrected Deaf to Dear, Dead or Head.

Craig MacLean is DeafBlind with ataxia, a rare condition called CAPOS. He & his wife of 22 years have two sons, the oldest of which has CAPOS as well.

Craig uses American Sign Language to communicate. He is an avid writer, friend, Hot Wheel collector and intervenor advocate.
